Mommy Moment: Silly Sleeping

I never know what I'm going to find when I go in to check on my daughter after she's fallen asleep.  She chooses the strangest, funniest places to sleep.  I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite pictures with you.  I also thought it would be even more fun to have you share YOUR pictures of your kids sleeping in crazy places or doing funny things.  So please email me your images!  I'll be posting them in a few days so if you could get them to me by Monday the 28th that'd be great.  Send your pictures to mommyminutesblog@gmail.com.

Here are some my my favorite pictures of my daughter.  Can't wait to see yours!

She HAD to have her basket of toys every night.

She fell asleep "reading" an empty photo album.

She started making messes and getting out all of her toys.  We have since moved her toys out of the room.

She's done this a few other times.  How does she breath like that let alone sleep??

This is my favorite.  She crawled into a laundry bag.  Seriously???

For some reason she prefers to sleep anywhere but her bed.

At grandma's house she emptied out their bookshelf.  

We walked in and couldn't see her anywhere.  Then we spotted her zebra legs poking out from under the crib.  Also notice she put all of the stuffed animals in baby brother's crib.

We walked this the next night and noticed a big pile of stuff shoved in front of the crib.  I moved the blankets and next ran into a barrier of the pack-n-play package after moving that to the side I found her like this:

We couldn't open the door all the way because her feet were in the way.  She had gotten some little chairs, tipped them over and fallen asleep under the metal frame.

As you can see....she's a bit crazy when it comes to sleeping.  It's always an adventure with her ha.  Make sure to send in your pictures so I can post them next week!

Mommy Moment: Jingle Bells

Yesterday I sang a solo in church.  As we were sitting on the pew I was explaining to my daughter that I was going to leave to sing so she needed to be a good listener for daddy.  Then our conversation went like this:

Her: What song are you singing?
Me: Come Thou Fount
Her: NO!  Not that one.  I want Jingle Bells!  Sing Jingle Bells Mom.
Me: Not today sweetie.

Then she took matters into her own hands and started belting Jingle Bells.  Maybe she should have been the one singing the solo ha.

Mommy Moment: Tell Me A Story

Lately my daughter has been requesting my husband to tell her stories all the time.  He'll always ask her what she'd like to hear a story about and she normally lists off different family members or something.  Well the other day she was on the couch and she said, "Daddy, tell me a story about your shirt....."  My husband said, "About my shirt?" with a confused look on his face.  Then she responded, "Yeah with Jesus on it!"

No my husband wasn't wearing a shirt with Jesus on it, but it did have a guy on the front.  Who was it you ask?  Mr. T saying "I pity the fool."  Ha ha.  I guess he has a beard, but other than that I wouldn't say there's much of a resemblance.  It made us laugh really hard.

Mommy Moment: Comments?

Today at church my daughter decided she didn't want to be in nursery any more.  She told her teacher she needed to go to the bathroom to get out.  As soon as she came to me she said she didn't need to go to the bathroom and just wanted to stay with me.

During the lesson, some people were sharing their thoughts.  After several people had talked, the teacher asked if there were any more comments.  My daughter responded (quite loudly), "NO!!" Haha.

Mommy Moment: Christmas List

The other day I asked my daughter what she wanted for Christmas.  Her response was "The temple!"

The past few months she has been totally obsessed with the temple.  She keeps asking if we can go to the temple and get married.  All of us - mommy, daddy, her and her brother ha I don't think she quite knows what it means to get married, but she sure is cute talking about how fun it will be to go to the temple.

Mommy Moment: Hi Jesus!

The other day when I was shopping at Hobby Lobby, my daughter saw a large nativity display.  She yelled as loud as she possible could "Hi Jesus!!!"  We got a few interesting looks from some of the other shoppers.

Mommy Moment: Check Out Chit-Chat

Kids can say some pretty embarrassing things to people sometimes and I'd say my fair share of these moments are in the check-out line at a store.  Today's mommy moment is from Erin and is about one of these wonderful situations.

I was in the check out line at Target and David walked up to the cashier and said, "Hi, my name is David and you have a chubby belly!"  So embarrassed!

Mommy Moment: Scripture Study

The other night when we were doing our family scripture study, my husband told my daughter to repeat after him since it was her turn to read.  He said "And"then he waited for her to repeat, but instead she finished the phrase by saying, "it came to pass..."  In this instance she was totally right which made this moment even more funny/cute.

Today's Mommy Moment is from Linsey

I was getting my 5 year old out the door to kindergarten this morning when I opened her back pack and realized I had forgotten to give her her teach and tell object. I pulled out the special bag, placed the object inside and as I was putting the special bag back in her pack, I noticed a few somethings that were tiny and round rolling around in the bottom of her back pack. 

As my curious and, hopefully, imaginative mind started to mull around the possibilities of what these small, brown, round, dry looking objects could be, I said, "What's this? Did you have a snack at school?" Then I pulled it out starting to guess as to what these little things could be... hoping they were maybe some new product I hadn't seen before, like cookie dough bites or little round cookies.

As I pulled out what I was starting to suspect were something pretty disgusting my daughter said, "Mom! Those are my surprise I brought home for you!" 

I chuckled as I said, "Oh! That is so sweet of you to think of me! Where did you find this...'surprise'?"

"On the playground during recess!"

As I saw little bits of grass through the dry round balls, further evidence proving what I already knew in my heart, I said, "Thank you so much, sweetie! This is so great, but next time you see these you better just leave them on the ground."

"Why?"

"Because, sweetie, they're droppings. They're deer poopies."

She just laughed out loud and crinkled her nose as she said, "Oh they are!? I thought they were little baby rocks!" She tossed her back pack across her shoulders and happily skipped out to the car while I promptly threw them in the garbage and washed my hands thoroughly... hoping she had also done the latter yesterday.

Mommy Moment: Look At My Daughter in the Window

Lately we've had some construction going on at our apartment complex.  Because of the noise and increased people outside, my daughter has had a difficult time going down for her naps.  She's started climbing up onto her dresser, sitting on the window sill, putting herself under the blinds and waving to all who walk by.

The other day, I went in to check on her and remind her that it's time for her nap.  She popped out from under the blinds and climbed off of the dresser totally NAKED.  Ahh!  So pretty much anyone walking by our apartment got greeted by a naked 2 1/2 year old standing at the window.  Nice!

I was changing my daughter's diaper and my 2 year old nephew (who has 2 brothers and no sisters) was in the room.  I took off my daughter's diaper and my nephew looked confused and said, "a bum?" Ha ha!

Mommy Moment: Runaway Cart

Today's mommy moment is from Heidi.

It was Monday morning, and I was feeling a little anxious as I headed to the grocery store. This was my first trip outside the home with both kids. Lexi was only 2 weeks old. I had meticulously planned my grocery list. Everything was perfectly in order to maximize my efforts to get in and out of the store as quickly as possible. I hopped out of the car and got both girls out. I got into the store and to my dismay, there were no shopping carts with the toy car on it. So I grabbed a regular shopping cart and stuck Abby in the child’s seat, and Lexi (in her car seat) on the middle part of the cart. No big deal. I can do this. I quickly made my rounds in the store, and before I knew it I was almost done. Besides a few tears, this had been a pretty uneventful trip. I checked out, and as I was walking out to the car I thought “Wow, that wasn’t so bad! I did it!”. I pushed the shopping cart to my car, and started piling my groceries into the back of the car. Next I pushed the cart over to the side of the car and started to put Lexi in. I heard the “click” of the carseat, letting me know she was in. Before I turned around, I heard a lady shout “Um, MAAM!? MAAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”.  “What in the world is this lady doing?” I thought as I proceeded to turn around. As I began to turn in her direction, something caught my eye. A shopping cart, moving pretty quickly, and already at the end of the parking lot….. WAIT…. MY SHOPPING CART, MOVING PRETTY QUICKLY AND ALREADY AT THE END OF THE PARKING LOT…………. WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD IN IT! I could hear her laughing and squealing “WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!” and kicking her legs harder and harder in excitement. But the harder she kicked those little legs, the faster she went. “OH MY GOSH” was all I could stammer as I took off in an Olympic sprint. She was heading into the next parking lot, RC Willey’s Furniture, when the Mail Man took action. He had seen this all happening from afar. He revved up that mail carrier and zoomed over to save my squealing toddler. But he wasn’t fast enough. I got there first, and pulled the getaway cart to a halt. Abby shrieked in delight “FUNNY MOMMY!”. I caught my breath and turned to the mail man who asked if everything was ok. I assured him we were fine, then turned my cart around to continue my walk of shame to the car. The lady that yelled at me was laughing to the point of tears, and couldn’t get over the way that Abby pumped her legs to get the cart going faster and faster. I managed to chuckle a little through my embarrassment and thanked her for her help. “This is my first time out with both kids” I mumbled. She reassured me that things like this happen, and it could have been much worse. I got into the car, cheeks bright red, heart still racing, and thought “Chalk one up for Abby. Kids: 1 Mom: 0”. I almost made it. 7 months later, and our trips to the grocery store are much more successful these days. Practice makes perfect people.

Not Quite Beautiful...

While potty training my daughter, I would obviously get really excited when she went to the bathroom in the toilet and so did she.  One time after she went poo-poo, she got off the toilet, checked out her accomplishment and exclaimed, "Ohhhhh BEAUTIFUL!!!"

Squirt!!

Today's Mommy Moment is from Mable and I just about spit out my drink when I read it from laughing so hard.

I was feeding Eli and Diana sat next to me, when we got done feeding, my milk accidentally squirted onto Diana's face.  She laughed pretty hard coz she thought it was funny, then she said, "Mommy pee on me again." I almost died from laughter.

Mommy Moment: Life With 3 Boys

Today's Mommy Moment is from Katie:

Zachary and I had been home from the hospital for maybe 3 days and it was time for him to eat.  I sat on the sofa and started to nurse and in comes Adam (almost 2) and he wanted to bounce on my foot.  So I am now nursing and bouncing Adam and of course in comes William.  Before I even understand what is happening, I look over and William (3 yrs old) is licking my arm everywhere!  All I could do was giggle and giggle.  It was an eye opening moment to my new life as the mommy of 3 boys!

Mommy Moment: Queen of the Potty

Today's Mommy Moment comes from Kasaundra.  A mom of 2 1/2 year old twins.  There are plenty of potty training moments that can give you a good laugh.....at least looking back.

I have always been very proud of the fact that I rarely ever got peed on with two newborns in my house. I didn't know that potty training would completely demolish my scoreboard. 

Yesterday, Delilah asked to sit on the potty. I was shocked that she was asking permission and that she was doing so willingly. I happily encouraged her only to be disappointed that she merely sat down and stood back up again to walk away. False alarm.

She then asked to sit on my lap while we watched a movie together. I had no problem with that and was snuggled up with my little girl in no time. I should have realized something was wrong when she started to lift herself off my lap, lock her knees together, and whine. 

But what REALLY gave it away was the warm liquid dribbling into my lap.

I was so happy that she decided to obey me at that point and ran over to the potty. 

Way better choice than my lap.

So needless to say, I was very excited when she successfully used the potty and then joined Porter and I for a potty celebration dance!

No. There is no video and no, you couldn't see it even if there were.

So there we were, dancing and singing about Delilah and her amazing potty skills. When a spontaneous round of applause broke out in her favor, I supported it. She asked for some toilet paper and I thought I was doing her a solid by getting it for her. She gratefully took it and before my brain had a chance to catch onto what was happening, her hand and the toilet paper were dunked in her potty. The sweetheart was trying to "clean up" her pee.

When my brain finally caught up, I yelped and grabbed her quickly away from that horrible but well-meant action and ran her to the kitchen to wash her hands. Afterwards, we went back to the potty and pantomimed what toilet paper is actually used for. I think it stuck.

The next step in "potty celebration mode" is to pick up said potty and go dump its contents in the actual toilet. Delilah was pretty proud of herself and cradled it carefully in her arms while Porter skipped along behind her still singing and dancing for her success.

We got to the toilet and Delilah successfully dumped the contents and flushed the toilet. We all raised our fist in a final victory pump before I turned to take the potty bowl from her to rinse in the sink.

Delilah quickly maneuvered the bowl away from me and plopped it on her head and took off down the hallway still celebrating her victory.

I stood there in shook with my mouth gaping open before a horrified "DELILAH!!!" ripped from my throat and I took off after her. She was completely confused by my disapproval of her new hat and let me know how displeased she was with me as I sat her on the couch and dabbed at the pee in her hair with a towel.

We were ALL definitely getting a bath that day.

Mommy Moment: Streaker

One Sunday, our family was getting ready for church.  My daughter decided to strip down to absolutely nothing, put on some of my flip flops and go on a walk.  Imagine her walking around our complex scooting along in those large flip-flops in the NUDE....if that isn't funny enough, picture my husband chasing her down while only being half dressed himself.  He was mortified, but it gave me a good laugh.
