Mommapproved: Baby Activity Table

Today's Mommapproved product is one of my very favorites:

Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Fun with Friends Musical Table

We got this as a baby shower gift when I was pregnant with my daughter and it was one of the best gifts we've ever received.  The legs are removable, so we started off with it on the ground while my daughter crawled around.  Then when she started to stand, we put the legs on the table.  She still loves this toy and she's nearly three.  She'll sometimes request her "big computer" to play with during nap time.  My son also loves the table.  He stands and does a little jig to the music the table plays.  It's so cute!

The tables are a bit expensive.  I've seen them range anywhere from $30-$50, but they are seriously worth the money.  They don't brake easily like so many other toys out there and they are great for the different stages children go through.   I'v seen them at yard sales, so watch out for them there.  If you don't find a deal, just fork over the money.  You won't regret it.

Mommapproved: White Noise App

Today's Mommapproved Item is a White Noise App
Jessica says the White Noise App found on itunes made by TMSOFT is seriously a fantastic tool for newborns.  There's a trial version too.  When my son Isaac was born, he'd sleep fine on his own during the day, but would only sleep on us at night.  I finally realized the difference was I'd open the windows during the day, and there'd be all sorts of commotion, whereas night time was silent.  We downloaded this app and Isaac suddenly was able to sleep on his own at any time of the day!

Thanks for this suggestion Jessica!  Whenever I take pictures of newborns I always have white noise playing.  It really does make a difference.  It looks like there is a trial version that is free, a normal version that is $1.99 and a pro version that is more expensive.

Mommapproved: Diaper Genie

Today's product is a do NOT buy.  Sure a Diaper Genie sounds like a good idea, but it just ends up being a big waste of money.
Diaper Genies don't actually store many diapers especially considering how many diapers your newborn will go through in a day.  Refills are about $5 each which really adds up.  While you may think it keeps the stink out, honestly as soon as you open it to put in a diaper, you are flooded with an overpowering stench that's 10 times worse than a normal garbage.  That's just my opinion, maybe some people love them, but the only reason ours is ever used is when my daughter plays the launch game.  I'll do a post on that game another time :)

Mommapproved: Netflix

Today's Mommapproved item is Netflix online streaming.
Alyssa says it's a must because you have all of their favorite shows on demand.  Thanks Alyssa!  I'll be honest, we currently just do the Netflix mailing dvd service and don't have Netflix online streaming.  We'll probably end up getting it in the near future especially since you say it's a must :)

Mommapproved: Gentle Naturals

I am so excited to start doing "Mommapproved" posts.  These posts are designed to have things that moms think are a must buy or a waste of money.  If you have anything you just couldn't live without as a mom or you wish you hadn't bought, let me know!

Our first mommapproved product is from Dana:

My son was born with really bad eczema and I had a hard time trying so many different things and wasting money to help his skid.  I know every kid is different, but I found a cream called Gentle Naturals that really helped him and helps keep the eczema somewhat under control.  It's really hard to deal with so I feel like mom's can be unprepared for that!  It seems to be very common from asking other people.

I also have other tips and tricks I've used for his eczema.  One of the best is Vaseline and LONG socks to cover him up.

Thanks Dana!  I'm so glad you sent this in.  I know several people who have babies suffering from eczema and with Winter heading our way it's just going to get worse.
